Apparently, all the signs in Steveston have been taken down and the shops are all reverting to their real purposes. I hope that's just because filming is over for the season. I mean, you can't force an entire town to put their lives and businesses on hold when you're not going to be filming there for three or four months. Because otherwise, I will be really upset if Storybrooke is over. The basic concept of Storybrooke is part of what makes the show appealing to so many fans. Personally, The Enchanted Forest has felt just a little too...cheesy and over the top, from the clothing to the dialogue. I far prefer the subtlety of the modern setting- the entertaining juxtaposition of the fairytale and/or Disney characters thrown haphazardly together in a small town they can't physically leave. I find every single one of their Storybrooke personalities/physical forms more attractive than their FTL ones in every way (especially Mr. Gold versus the imp Rumplestilzkin).

And I love the "Small town coastal Maine" aspect because that is a world I can absolutely identify with, it's the world I live in. Well, one state over but otherwise extremely similar. For three years, I lived on the other end of the same coastal route you'd basically drive to get to Storybrooke if it was real. I don't see my world on tv that often. I mean, they actually film in Vancouver, BC but you'd never know it.

I think obliterating Storybrooke is the worst idea they could have for the show.

Should the characters even want to leave a world with efficient, comfortable, private, indoor plumbing, cell phones, computers, central heating, cars, bras (instead of corsets or nothing), sneakers, microwaves, televisions, cameras, and democracy for a place where none of that exists? The Enchanted Forest is pretty much obliterated, it'd be better for them to rescue what's left of the people who live there than try to restore it.

I had more to write but I'm so irritable right now that I'll leave it for later.
