spoilers for SPN "Clip Show"

Sometimes a show just gets to the point where you can't deal with it anymore.

Fans used to "joke" that Supernatural was like an abusive boyfriend. Well, Supernatural has shown up drunk at three a.m and begged me to let him sleep on the couch for the last time.

I used to never miss an episode. Then in the last two seasons, it became more of a "I'll watch it if I'm home and it's on" and then turned into "Oh? Supernatural's on, I guess..." and if I watch, I'm working on the computer or something (even sitting with my back to the screen) instead of glued to what's happening, with a bowl of ice cream in my lap. A show I was so incredibly invested in has become background noise.

Back in Season 3, there was massive pan fandom wide Feminist!Rage at the way the show treated its female characters. I agreed with a lot of it, but I kept watching anyway. And I don't regret it, because the show was still, really, really good.

But I think after Kripke left, they lost the plot. I had my complaints about him but at least with Kripke at the helm, the show had a direction, an overarching goal. And you'd think that the show being taken over by a female showrunner would've made their gender issues less...awful but I saw little noticable change in any episode not guest starring Felicia Day or Alana Tal.

I'm among the group of fans who have always wanted to see Sarah again. Because she was funny, confident, smart, and not a hunter yet willing to jump right in and help out even when it was scary and gross. Exactly the sort of girl fans have always said they wanted to see on the show. So I should've been overjoyed to see her suddenly back after... eight years?

So obviously, that only meant bad news. I wasn't watching, really, and then I turned around and saw her.

And she died five minutes later.

Crowley is killing everyone they ever saved in order to force them to- you know, I have no fricking idea at this point. So of course they brought Sarah back just to kill her off.

I know this show is cynical and dark. But when your heroes have been driven to the point where every single thing they love has been taken and they have no trust or hope left, what is the point of watching?

It's making me start to believe that it would've been better for everyone if Dean had said yes to Michael.

I will not be watching the next season.

At least Avery and Juliet on Nashville are making me laugh with her persistent inability to remember that they've already met.
