Wow, the new character on SPN is *not* popular. It's hard to tell whether they're totally clueless or the audience is just unpleasable at this point. I know the fans tend to loathe any guest star who gets whole scenes all to themselves because it's "Making Sam and Dean guest stars on their own show" and it doesn't matter who that guest star is. While the character's overt gayness means she won't be set up as a love interest, words like "overly cute", "Mary Sue" and "annoying" are being tossed around already. And you know what? Making her gay was clearly just to calm down the rabid fangirls, because otherwise, this show rarely has two female characters interacting in the same episode, let alone two recurring women who know each other.

I don't know. I don't...care...I guess.

Bobby, a perenial favorite character, seems to have become quite unpopular this season.

I haven't seen this show in awhile...what happened to Emily? I'll have to catch up on Hulu.

I really thought hitch hiking from Pittsburg and camping out in front of the Training Center until the gymnastics coach gave in and let her try out was unbelievably stupid of Jordan. There’s a reason you have to be invited to the Olympic tryouts. There’s a reason they don’t just take anyone who can get there. Your nation’s Olympic Training Facility is one of the most dangerous and intense athletic training camps in your nation. If the Olympic committee is footing the bill for your exclusive training, they have a right to be picky about who they’re going to train. Yeah, she ended up earning her spot but if the Olympics just let people show up and demand to try out because they think they deserve it, it would implode the whole system. She was so very lucky McIntire didn’t immediately have her thrown off the premises. That wouldn’t have happened in real life- "I'm going to ignore all the rules and proper procedures and just hurl myself at my dream and hope it all works out" is a terrible way to accquire a future for yourself. For most of the episodes she appeared in, I wanted to punch her. Being a rebel is fine, and standing up for yourself is fine and trying to push the boundaries of a somewhat stuffy sport is fine, but learn to read a room.

But I see what they were doing, using her terrible interpersonal skills to compare and contrast with Coach McIntire. Including hints that they may become each other’s real family. I’m honestly not sure the only reason people kept thinking they were related was because they’re both black. I think it was foreshadowing that he'll become like a surrogate father to her, give her the home she's never had. And her bad attitude and bad interpersonal skills were a red herring, meant to illuminate prejudice in the characters and viewers. We all assumed she was the Mole, when it was really bouncy, friendly, sweet, Wendy Capshaw.

I'm still wondering though, why she hates Kaylee so much. Kaylee said Jordan turned into an obsessed teacher's pet, but Jordan hinted that Kaylee had personally betrayed her somehow.

I sorta figured Lauren was going to be one of the ones who broke it instead of making it. This is still a teen show on a family network, and Lauren is too “immoral” to continue on as a heroine. I mean, come on, she was never going to be their final choice. Lauren also wants other things besides gymnastics, she’s constantly distracted by boys and clothes. She nearly destroyed Payson’s life not because she wanted to overtake her in gymnastics but because she wanted her step mother back (it’s a long story if you don’t know it) and that’s a dangerous person to have on an Olympic team. Someone so easily and passionately distracted by her own non gymnastics related personal issues that she’s willing to destroy her team to resolve them. Not only that, but her particular brand of nastiness doesn’t even compare to the unholy teamup of Mrs. Parker and Wendy Capshaw, so her role as the bad girl has been eclipsed. But she probably has enough of a fan following (being one of the original main characters) that they had to remove her from the competition without making it her fault.

Hence, the heart trouble.
